Olives are great evergreen trees with attractive silver grey foliage and a grey truck which becomes gnarled and dark with age.  They make attractive specimens in containers or courtyard areas.

KEY FEATURES Creamy-white small flowers appear during spring, followed by green fruit which ripen to red or black through summer and autumn.
GROWING CONDITIONS Olives will not tolerate waterlogged soil.
Olives require full sun and are tolerant of a wide range of well drained soils.
PLANT CARE Although olives are drought tolerant, they require watering during the flowering period and fruit development.
Apply a fertiliser high in nitrogen in autumn and spring.
